this rant is n response to several comments and opinions regarding the colorado shooting. I couldn't have said it better myself-Kait

That's one of my major rant issues...really, it pisses me off to no end that when a family fucks things
up, they'd rather deny it and not accept responsibility for their own actions. Here in the land of the
lawsuit, all it takes is a lawyer perched on your shoulder (or circling over the carcass) to get your 15
   minutes...
The Paducah shooting. Kid breaks down on video and says it was his family, parents in particular.
The whole family testifies that the kid always had an unhealthy obsession with guns. Parents
encouraged said obsession, hoping it would balance out. Next thing you know, here we are a year or
so later and they're crying, "It was Playstation! It was Marilyn Manson! Stephen King! The Mummy
   and the Wolfman! Michael Landon!"

Kee-rist. Even though we've had many an exhaustive study, no effects of the entertainment business
have been directly linked to violent acts; the closest they come is that they serve as a catalyst to
someone already unbalanced. In the absence of Mortal Kombat and Power Rangers, the individual
would just have easily have gone off the deep end by insisting that Post Toasties(tm) spoke to him
every morning, even when he wasn't having them for breakfast.
So, that said, did anyone else feel utter contempt for the "Phd professors" on the national news who
used words like "rock music" and "South Park" when asked to describe this tragedy? Of anyone on
the planet, aren't they supposed to be the most informed eggheads of all?

I can distill it down to two things: 1)people who think they're "smart" love to spew all their extensive
knowledge on things they know nothing about, and 2)as a free society, we have become so tolerant
that we tolerate intolerant people. It's the only reason these knee-jerk fear-fascists have been
allowed to spout their nonsense before all: we put up with people abusing our system lest we have
the system taken away from us.

Does anyone really think any of the "experts" who have been telling us what we can and can't do
have listened to a Marilyn Manson song? Or watched an episode of South Park from beginning to
   end?
